"Attention to detail
is the way we do business."
"We take the time to do it
right."
"As boaters ourselves, we
craft our vessels with the boater in mind."
"As craftsman, we choose
only the highest quality materials and equipment."
The Suwanee is
designed and built by individuals with years of personal boating
experience, who know first-hand that quality craftsmanship creates
a vessel that true boaters will enjoy using year after year. The
craftsmen of Piney Creek Boat Builders build each Suwanee
by hand: Hand-laid fiberglass hulls, decks, and cabins, hand-built
and finished joinery, and hands-on quality control are all hallmarks
of the way we build boats.
We take GREAT PRIDE and CARE in how we build and
finish the Suwanee. This is seen
not only in her superb joinery, but also in her careful, well-thought-out
engineering of structures, systems, arrangements and styling. This
is also reflected in the careful selection of building materials.
At Piney Creek, we use the best of adhesives: WEST System epoxies,
Titebond II or III wood glues, 3M 5200, and many other fine products,
each used where it is most suitable for the purpose. Paint and varnish
finishes are all applied by hand, not sprayed. Why is this an advantage?
We believe this method produces a superior, longer-lasting finish,
in which we can control every step of the process. We use several
coats of primer, and two or more coats of paint. Varnished surfaces
receive at least six coats and often more. We have a dedicated chamber
within our manufacturing facility to ensure dust-free finishes.
All woodwork is assembled with an eye toward minimizing joint movement
and noise (squeaking).
The Suwanee is
a ruggedly designed boat for use in the marine environment. You
will find that exterior maintenance is minimal, and easy. Maintenance
of the interior is likewise simple, made so by easy-to-clean surfaces
and a central vacuum allowing the entire boat to be cleaned in an
hour or less.
All Suwanee vessels
are designed and built incorporating ABYC Standards and Practices.
The systems, machinery, and equipment installations meet or exceed
ABYC and US Coast Guard Standards, and all are installed for maximum
possible access and serviceability.
Craftsmen build the Suwanee,
and we invite you to come aboard so that you can touch, examine
and see our work for yourself. We are certain that you will appreciate
the efforts of each individual craftsman!
